Maine Hire-A-Vet Campaign 2024
Thank you to all who participated and supported our 10th annual hiring campaign. This year we brought campaign events north to Aroostook County, out to western Maine and wrapped up in the southern part of the state. Over 280 employers and resource providers delivered employment opportunities and resources to 237 job seekers, 97 of them being Veterans.
We can’t do this campaign alone. It takes a broad range of contributions to make the campaign a success. Of note, thank you to our host sites of the Augusta Civic Center, University of Maine Presque Isle, Poland Spring, and York County Community College for their support and hospitality. Also, a very special thank you to Sport Clips for providing complimentary haircuts to Veterans.
Employers already engage in hiring Veterans, we do ask as part of the campaign to report your Veteran and Veteran family hires. Please visit Report Veteran Hires Here. You must submit a separate report for each hire and all Veteran hires must be reported no later than 30DEC24. We are currently over 170 hires which far exceeds our campaign goal of 100 Veteran hires.
Continue to check back as event information is frequently updated. You can also email us at MaineHireAVet.DOL@maine.gov if you have questions. To learn more about these and other hiring events in your area visit https://www.mainecareercenter.com/employment/hiringevents/.
Employers wishing to be recognized for your recruitment and retention of Veterans can attend a no cost virtual seminar on the HIRE Vets Medallion Recognition Program being held on January 14, 2025 at 1 pm. To register contact Veterans’ Representative Brad Bean at bradley.bean@maine.gov.
Thank you and we look forward to you participating in our 2025 campaign next fall.
